- Summary
- The production of protons, deuterons, tritons, and alpha particles in a sphere of WLiD irradiated by a central source of 14-MeV neutrons has been investigated. The Los Alamos Monte Carlo Neutron Photon (MCNP) transport code was used to calculate neutron transport through - and charged-particle production in - the WLiD sphere. The numbers of charged-particles produced were compared with those predicted by a diffusion code that also transported the charged particles. The tritium production was also compared with the experiment. It was found that charged-particle generation from 14-MeV neutrons on WLiD is prolific. 3 refs., 8 figs.
