Slavery is a topic that contains great semantic weight. Even white supremacist hate groups utilize discourses of slavery in nuanced ways to frame their claims and justify their aims. This case study will present a research project that investigated the ways that white supremacist hate groups in Tennessee, USA, utilized slave frames in the social construction of whiteness. Specifically, this method's case study will focus on the use of purposive sampling of white supremacist websites to show how this method can be applied to the study of social forces and specialized populations that are difficult to access otherwise.
