- Qualitative insider research is an insightful and reflective approach for conducting research within a setting where the researcher is part of that cultural unit, whilst maintaining their own day-to-day role within that community (Robson, 2002). Qualitative insider research is a unique methodology for exploring the deep, contextual understandings through the insider's cultural tacit knowledge. The importance of qualitative insider research is the interplay among the organisation or community, the people within it, and the insider, and how their dynamics can evolve into an intensity of research that cannot otherwise be achieved from an external positioning (Galea, 2009).
