- Biographical or Historical Sketch
- George MacCall captained the U.S. Davis Cup team from 1965 to 1967. He later served as an agent for numerous professional players such as Arthur Ashe, Rod Laver, and Billie Jean King. He promoted many international tennis events and was instrumental in bringing about the end of the distinction between professionals and amateurs in the highest levels of competition in 1968. This ushered in the current Open era in tennis, allowing all players to play at all events, regardless of status, including Grand Slam events such as Wimbledon, and made it possible for top players to make their living from tennis.
