Mr. Vishal, a project manager of M & T Automotive Inc. was confronted with a dilemma of expanding the companys business into a new location. He devised two possible options, and presented them in a board meeting. The first one was to start up a plant in India, where the company would produce and distribute its own products. The second opportunity was to start an alliance with existing players in the market. After the boards approval to initiate the first option, Vishal used his knowledge about probability theory to examine whether the project would be completed within the prescribed timeframe instructed by company management. The use of different probability concepts, such as the conditions of probability assignments, counting rules of possible outcomes, and approaches to probability assignments, will help the readers to understand the application of probability theory and formulate an approach to their business-related decisions.
