rovides an index of the wages and salaries of employees in US business and manufacturing sectors (2009 =100), and percent changes in the index from prior reporting periods. Data include employers' contributions for social insurance and private benefit plans. Data are based primarily on employee compensation data from the National Income and Product Accounts, prepared by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The compensation of employees in general government, nonprofit institutions and private households are subtracted from compensation of domestic employees to derive employee compensation for the business sector. A compilation of economic indicators used by the Bureau of Labor Statistics to calculate quarterly indexes of labor productivity (output her hour), hourly compensation, unit labor costs, and related nonlabor costs. Data are shown for business and manufacturing sectors, and two major divisions within each sector.
