Presents a count of companies and company subsidiaries. The data structure represents the hierarchical relationship of parent companies to subsidiaries and branches. The parent is the corporate headquarters for a corporate family. All subsidiaries will have a parent, and may or may not have branches assigned to it. Note that only companies that have a parent - subsidiary - branch structure are included in this dataset. For single-entity establishments, see the All Companies listing. (Data users should also be aware that company hierarchy structures are unique for each year, with the implication that comparing years of data will require multiple selections of the parent, subsidiary, and/or location of interest.) Formerly named Infogroup Business USA, this dataset provides establishment-level information on businesses in the United States, at national, state, county, and ZIP code levels. Census tract level data are provided for Industry Detailed and Industry Summary indicators. Data on businesses in US territories are also included. Data are collected from multiple sources, including direct calls to businesses. The resource is a comprehensive source of information on small- and medium-sized businesses.
