Actions for Subscriptions for shares in the bridge corporation. : Whereas a memorial has been presented to the Honourable the General Assembly of Pennsylvania, praying them to consider of the propriety of incorporating a society for the purpose of erecting a permanent bridge across the River Schuylkill, at the west end of the High Street of Philadelphia, upon such plan as shall be approved of by the subscribers to the same, or their representatives: and whereas the said General Assembly have resolved that they will incorporate any society who will undertake the erection of such bridge at the place aforesaid. And whereas it is proposed to raise the money necessary for erecting said bridge by subscription, in shares of ten pounds specie each, which subscriptions are to be repaid to the respective subscribers, their heirs or assigns, whenever the said proposed bridge shall become free and exempt from toll, and in the mean time to pay an interest to the subscribers for the use of their money. We do hereby severally promise and engage to contribute to the said work, to the amount of the several shares annexed to our respective names, which we will pay in such proportions, at such times, and to such persons as by the act of incorporation, to be made for the purpose aforesaid, shall be directed and required
